Controlled Atmosphere: Not recommended, as pistachios already have an adequately long storage life and the benefits of CA are minimal.

Ozone: Installation of an ozone-generation system is recommended to reduce microbial load.

Air Recirculation: Install a digitally controlled air-recirculation system to ensure complete 24-hour coverage throughout the chamber.

  • Thoroughly dry in-shell pistachios before storage.
  • Maintain continuous and uniform air recirculation throughout the cold chamber.
  • Disinfect the cold-storage rooms before use.
  • Avoid exposure to foreign odors that can be absorbed by the product.
  • Keeping the temperature below 5 °C helps control insect infestations.
